Garret Tan is a PhD student in the Health Systems Design Group, Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Professor John Clarkson and advised by Professor Nathan Crilly. His research applies systems and design engineering approaches to heart failure services and care pathways, focusing on how complex healthcare systems are designed, delivered, and experienced, with the aim of driving patient-centred service transformation. His work is supported by collaboration with Professor Jonathan Mant and Dr Juliet Usher-Smith from the Department of Public Health and Primary Care.
Alongside his research, Garret works as a Clinical Academic Physiotherapist at Barts Health NHS Trust, where he bridges clinical practice, research, and education. He is also a visiting lecturer at City St George's, University of London, teaching on the cardiorespiratory and research modules.
Garret is open to connecting and collaborating with clinicians, researchers, engineers, and policymakers who share an interest in service improvement, cardiovascular care, and interdisciplinary approaches to healthcare challenges.
