Dr Shaona Ghosh
Dr. Shaona Ghosh is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Engineering. In her research, she is developing deep learning algorithms (AI) for gesture recognition within Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality interfaces with focus on Natural Language Understanding. Previously, she was a postdoc at University of Oxford, in Machine Learning (2016).
She has a PhD in Machine Learning from University of Southampton (2016). Her PhD research was carried out in collaboration with University College London (UCL), Computer Science and Machine Learning Lab.
She has a MSc in Artificial Intelligence from University of Southampton (2011).
Shaona has industrial experience working for Hewlett Packard Labs (2011-2012), Samsung Electronics, South Korea (2008-2010), as a research engineer for Samsung mobile phones and Wipro Technologies as software engineer (2006-2008).
Until recently, she was the co-founder and AI director of a New York based startup. She has won studentships and awards from Bloomberg, Women in Machine Learning, Samsung and University of Southampton.
