Elina Jokisuu is a PhD research student in the Inclusive Design group, supervised by Prof John Clarkson and Dr Patrick Langdon. Her research investigates the design implications of cognitive impairment, focusing on identifying patterns of impairment caused by certain medical conditions and developing this information into design guidance.
Before joining the EDC in January 2009, Elina worked as a researcher in Agora Center, University of Jyvaskyla, where her research focused on participatory design with ageing people, particularly the adoption of technologies in care homes, usability issues with computers and digital television and the role of social media in supporting independent living. She also worked on Nordic Serious Games, an international research project looking at the development and use of digital games for other than entertainment purposes.
