I am a Research Associate at the Engineering Design Centre and Trinity Hall  of University of Cambridge.  I have completed  PhD in Computer Science at the Rainbow Group of University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory in 2010 and was awarded a Gates-Cambridge Scholarship in 2006. I previously undertook a first degree in Information Technology at the University of Kalyani and a master degree at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

My research aims to make interfaces of modern electronic devices accessible to elderly and disabled users in different contexts of use.  I work on developing user models that will help to reflect problems faced by people with different range of abilities. I have published over 40 journal and conference papers in Human Computer Interaction and Assistive Technology and also being cited in reputed journals and conference proceedings like ACM TACCESS, Frontiers in Neuroprosthetics, ASSETS. Currently I am working on the GUIDE project, which is a medium scale focused research project on an EU FP7, Accessible and Assistive Information and Communication Technologies grant:  “GUIDE – Gentle User Interfaces for Disabled and Elderly citizens". The project also involves partners at  France, Germany, Spain and Portugal and aims to develop accessible, adaptable and multi-modal digital TV interfaces.  The project is part of the VUMS (Virtual User Modelling and Simulation) cluster. .Recently I have also started working on the IUATC project . The IU-ATC (India-UK Advanced Technology Centre) of excellence in next generation networks systems and services is a virtual joint research initiative between the UK and India This project extends the work of user modelling and simulation for different platforms like kiosks and mobile phones involving users both at UK and India.
