Project Objectives
- Establish a definition for resilience in the context of healthcare environments and devise methods of evaluating it through consultation with the Department of Health (DH), the NHS and Trust level policy makers, patients and staff, and other stakeholders.
- Create climate change robustness and adaptability profile for building types that occur frequently within the NHS Trust estates, identifying critical spaces by reference to existing databases
- Establish resilience for existing building through modelling and critical appraisal, using current and future weather data for different geographical locations
- Provide recommendations for detailed refurbishment strategies.
- Examine complexities and barriers to adaptive refurbishment to deliver increased robustness and lower energy consumption.
- Disseminate project outcomes widely through health, construction and research communities.
