Management of Change
Research Theme: Change Management
The Management of Change project is a collaborative research project with MIT and BP.
Motivation
Change management is a critical area in the success of complex oil and gas projects at BP. By better understanding the likely impact of changes, BP will be better able to control cost, scheduling and other factors associated with implementing changes.
Objectives
- The Cambridge team will be seeking to: Benchmark existing Management of Change processes at BP and provide recommendations for improvement
- Develop CPM models of oil and gas facilities to support change prediction analysis
- Utilise statistical data derived from change databases by the MIT team to populate the CPM Models
- Enable designers to explore the architecture of the product
- Collaborate with MIT to investigate social/organisational aspects of change management
- Collaborate with MIT to investigate how change propagation to third parties affects the management of change
Method
This work is being undertaken in close partnership with our contacts at BP and our colleagues at MIT.
