Biography
- BA, University of Cambridge, 2014
- MEng, University of Cambridge, 2014
Laurence Cook is a researcher at the Engineering Design Centre, he obtained his first degrees in Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2014. He then went on to join the EDC as a PhD Student under the supervision of Dr Jerome Jarrett, studying the robust computational design of aerospace systems.
He is researching robust optimization methods under different types of uncertainties with applications in civil aircraft conceptual design, airfoil shape design and hypersonic airbreathing vehicle conceptual design. Specifically he is developing an improved methodology for optimization under mixed uncertainties, and investigating the extent to which quantifying uncertainties as aleatory or epistemic affects the outcomes of robust optimizations of aerospaces systems.
Laurence supervises IB Maths at Emmanuel college and IA Maths at Sidney Sussex college, and demonstrates the IIA projcet GC2: Light Aircraft Design.
