Anna Mieczakowski
BT Research Fellow
- Ph.D. in Engineering Design (University of Cambridge, 2011)
- MSc Information Technology & Management (Keele University, 2005)
- BA (Hons) Media and Cultural Studies & Information Technology (Worcester University, 2004)
Anna Mieczakowski is a research associate in the Inclusive Design Group at the Engineering Design Centre. Her PhD in Engineering Design focused on helping designers to design products and services that align with users' understanding in order to make them more accessible and usable. Anna has over 6 years of experience working in industry on a number of software-based products for the NHS and a variety of large and small organisations from the UK. More recently, Anna has been leading a number of collaborative knowledge transfer projects between the Engineering Design Centre and BT. One such project investigated, through multidisciplinary research, the true nature of ICT-mediated communications and their effects, risks and benefits. The results of this work can be accessed here.
Anna's research interests are in the general area of engineering design, particularly the development of design methodologies and tools in inclusive design and healthcare design to evaluate designs against the needs and capabilities of the target user groups in order to achieve successful, accessible, usable, safe and sustainable products and services.
Research Interests:
- User Interface (UI) Design
- Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
- Interaction Modelling
- Psychology and Cognitive Science
- Healthcare Design
- E-Healthcare
- Industry / Academic ICT Research
