Dr Bob Young is a senior lecturer in the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University. He has 10 years industrial experience in product and process development and some 20 years academic research experience related to Integrated Information and Knowledge Systems for Design and Manufacture. His research has focused on decision support systems for manufacture with particular emphasis on issues concerned with design and manufacturing systems integration and interoperation. This has led to research in design for manufacture and process planning, product lifecycle management, information and knowledge sharing, knowledge maintenance and reuse. Dr Young is the programme director for the School's product design and manufacture course and the design group leader in the department. He is a member of the digital manufacturing research group within Loughborough University’s Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research Centre. He is also book reviews editor for the International Journal of Production Research and a UK expert to the International Standards Organisation TC184/SC4.
