Project Goals page for the third Cambridge Engineering inclusive design project

i~Design 3

Extending active living through more effective inclusive design

The Project Goals

  • 1. Better descriptions of product/service users linked to more accurate data and represented in designer-friendly formats (Objectives 1 & 6)
  • 2. Closer integration of anthropometric, capability and social data (Objectives 2 & 3)
  • 3. More effective application of users and user data to job and workplace design, and healthcare systems design (Objective 2)
  • 4. Better understanding of the extent and nature of exclusion (across the whole population) resulting from and associated with the implementation of new technologies (Objective 4)
  • 5. Definition and verification of the means to capture a national user data set: designing and piloting the research requirements for a major survey capable of international replication (Objectives 5, 7 & 8).
  • The work will require a 3 year build up to the survey stage, during which previous work in inclusive design will be consolidated and made more extensive and accurate while new preparations will be made in specific areas such as the workplace, social and environmental exclusion.
