Welcome to the Integrated Design Consortium (iDc)

The iDc was formed five years ago by Jerome Jarrett, Bill Dawes, John Clarkson, Mark Savill and Geoff Parks to provide a framework for collaborative research into integrated design.

Given our backgrounds and research interests, our early work together focussed on the aerodynamic design of turbomachinery, in particular for large civil jet engines. This work has benefitted from industrial support by Rolls-Royce plc.

Since our founding, our research portfolio has broadened to include cross-disciplinary and design modularity issues, both within aeroengines and increasingly beyond: in external aircraft aerodynamics, nuclear submarine propulsion and orbital satellite design.

Our principal financial support has been provided by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Rolls-Royce plc and the US Office of Naval Research.

We hope you enjoy your visit to the iDc. If you have any comments or queries, please contact Jerome Jarrett.
