Countering Design Exclusion: An introduction to inclusive design
We are very pleased to announce the launch of "Countering Design Exclusion: An introduction to inclusive design", a new coursebook for students of inclusive (universal) design. This book provides an open and accessible introduction to the theory and practice of inclusive design. It is also heavily illustrated with over 400 figures, diagrams and photographs in its 227 pages.
"Countering Design Exclusion" presents the concept of design exclusion and how addressing exclusion explicitly identifies the shortcomings in everyday products and services that need to be overcome to allow the products and services to be improved. It is aimed at design students and practitioners and provides a wide-ranging overview of the issues associated with inclusive design.
This book is accompanied by a publicly accessible on-line tutorial.
Two versions of the book are available. The standard version is printed in blue/black duo-tone and has a gated paperback cover, while the (cheaper) student edition is printed in black and white only, with a flat paperback cover.
